Kate Middleton Borrows Queen's Pearl Necklace Once Worn By Diana For Wedding Anniversary Dinner

The Duchess of Cambridge last night sparkled in jewellery loaned by the Queen as the royal family celebrated the monarch's 70th wedding anniversary.

The Queen and Prince Philip marked 70 years of marriage with a family dinner at Windsor Castle.

And Kate had an added family connection, wearing a dazzling pearl choker with a diamond studded clasp which had previously been borrowed by Princess Diana.

The four-strand necklace was created from cultured pearls given to the Queen by the Japanese government. She wore the necklace herself on various occasions in the 1980s and 1990s, including on a visit to Bangladesh in 1983.

Diana, Kate's late mother-in-law, borrowed the piece for a state banquet in 1982 held at Hampton Court Palace in honour of the Netherlands.

Kate teamed the statement necklace with her black lace Diane von Furstenberg Zarita evening dress, adding her own black and white theme to husband Prince William's dinner suit.

Girl Kills Self After Learning Fiancé 'Was Already Married & Wanted Her As Second Wife'

A student killed herself after discovering the man she agreed to marry was already married and intended to have her as his polygamous second wife, according to reports.

Danara Kaipova, 20, was found hanged soon after finding out her groom-to-be apparently already had a spouse and two children.

Her devastated mum said her daughter had thought she'd found her true love. Danara was allegedly 'kidnapped' from her college in Kazakhstan this summer by wealthy Birzhan Doshakaev, 29.

The act of 'bride-stealing' is a barbaric medieval tradition that continues in Kazakhstan and other areas of the former Soviet Union.

Despite being 'stolen', she reportedly told her friends and family she loved him and made clear she was happy to marry him after he took her to his home city, Atyrau, where she met his parents.

She agreed to sleep with him before their expected wedding - but at this stage she had no idea he was already married.

However, about four months later she discovered that he had a spouse and children, and intended her to be his polygamous second wife, it was reported.

She was "devastated" and "crushed" by the discovery.

Soon after, she was found hanged.

Police have begun a criminal investigation into whether Danara was forced into suicide by the cruel behaviour of the man she loved.

Danara's uncle Altai said: "I went to bring back the body of my niece from Atyrau region.

"I submitted a complaint to police."

He said: "The relatives of this man said nothing at all."

Wayne & Coleen Set To Renew Their Wedding Vows

Wayne and Coleen Rooney are reportedly planning to renew their wedding vows next year. The reports come amid claims the pair's marriage is on the rocks, following the footballer's wild night out in September - which saw him arrested for drink driving, while behind the wheel of party girl Laura Simpson's car.

According to The Sun, the couple are planning to reaffirm their love in their favourite holiday hot spot Barbados, as Coleen, who is pregnant with the couple's fourth child, knows 'deep down' she has forgiven him.

A source told the paper: 'To say it’s been a rough ride for both of them in recent months is an understatement. But we’ve been told they plan to renew their wedding vows next summer – maybe in Barbados.

'We were astonished as Coleen is no fool and a pretty tough cookie. He is just relieved to have another chance.'

President Robert Mugabe Resigns After 37 Years As Zimbabwe's Leader

Zimbabwe's President Robert Mugabe has resigned after 37 years of autocratic rule, finally succumbing to the pressure of a military takeover and the humiliation of impeachment.

The announcement came minutes into a joint session of the Zimbabwean Parliament in Harare, convened to prise the 93-year-old from power.

As the Speaker read out a letter from Mugabe, lawmakers broke out in thunderous applause and cheers.

In the streets outside, crowds erupted in rapturous celebrations, dancing and cheering in joy, some raising their fists and waving Zimbabwean flags.

"We think that this is the work of God," one young man told CNN in Harare. "We were in crisis for a long time, and this is a new day for Zimbabweans."

In his letter, Mugabe insisted that his resignation was voluntary. "I have resigned to allow smooth transfer of power," he wrote. "Kindly give public notice of my decision as soon as possible."

Factory Worker Overpowers 10ft Python By Biting Its Tail When Snake Wrapped Itself Round Car Engine

This is the astonishing moment a factory worker overpowered a 10ft python by biting its tail when the snake hid inside a car engine.

Catchers spent 90 minutes trying to shift the stubborn reptile when Rahjit Phan managed to free the serpent.

Rahjit, 53, said he used an "old jungle trick" he learned in his Cambodian village to weaken the python, which was captured in dramatic footage.

The snake had crawled inside a car engine to keep warm in Samut Prakan, Thailand. The 10ft-long beast hid above the wheel chassis, coiled round the suspension then slithered up into the engine were it wrapped itself parts just below the alternator.

Rescuers spent 90 minutes grappling with the stubborn reptile before Rahjit finished his shift at the nearby factory and walked over to help.

He stunned the seasoned snake catchers by sinking his teeth into the deadly python's scales - which incredibly caused it to loosen its grip.

With four men pulling the python with all their strength, it eventually came loose after a lengthy three hour tug-of-war.

Rahjit joked that biting python's tails was an "old jungle trick" he learned in his village in Cambodia before moving to neighbouring Thailand for work.

He said: "This is an old trick we learned in the jungle. If a snake has caught a chicken or an animal then we can bite it to let the animal escape.

"Just bite the tail and bite it hard. That will make the snake weak. It will always work but nobody should try it unless they're experienced.

"I'm happy that I could help. This was not a scary snake. I've seen some that are very big."

Security guard Phanom Pattham, 40, said that Rahjit deserves a pay rise for getting the snake out of the engine of another worker's car after the incident on October 9 just after midnight.

He said: "Rahjit actually saved the snake's life. It was stuck for three hours and the future wasn't looking good for the snake. Give him a bonus for his good work."

Jose Mourinho To Hold Christmas Day Training At Old Trafford In Shock To Club's Staff

Manchester United players will be expected to train at Old Trafford on Christmas Day. Boss Jose Mourinho will hold the festive session at 5pm at the stadium rather than the club's Carrington training ground.

United take on Burnley the following day - but the decision to hold training at the ground means an extra 50 workers will be dragged away from their Christmas celebrations.

A session at Carrington only requires 20 staff members. And according to The Sun , Mourinho's decision has stirred up resentment among those expected to leave their families for most of the day.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have just thrashed Argentina 4-2 in the International friendly match which took place in Krasnodar, Russia this evening.

Ihenacho scored an incredible free-kick in the 44 minutes of the first half to end it 2- 1.

Job Hunter Who Got Tattoo To Remember Grandfather Is Rejected 30 Times By Potential Employers

A job hunter says he has been unfairly discriminated against after being rejected from 30 potential employers because of a giant neck tattoo dedicated to his late grandfather.

Joe Parsons, 21, got the £250 six-inch throbbing red heart with turquoise angel wings in memory of his grandfather Thomas, who died in a care home aged 63 last year.

He got the inking while he was working in a factory, but claims since trying to get a new job he has attended 30 interviews that have gone nowhere.

He has tried attending interviews wearing high-necked shirts but the tips of the wings still peek out above the collar line.

Mr Parsons, of Collyhurst, north Manchester, insists he doesn't regret getting the extreme body art - but wishes potential bosses could see past it.

He said: 'Before I got the tattoo people thought I was a happy, confident person. Now it feels like people think I'm full of my self and that I don't give a damn.

'That's just not who I am. I'm just a normal person and all I want is a decent job.

'There's definitely a stigma attached which there shouldn't be. I do think it's a form of discrimination.

'It's not down to the skills I have and in every interview they haven't given me a good reason. Now I feel like I've got 'don't hire me' written all over my neck.

'I don't want to get it removed. It means so much to me.

'I still don't regret it at all though. I'm proud of it because it means so much. What I regret is how other people are perceiving it.'

Burundi Orders Unmarried Couples To Wed By End Of 2017

Unmarried couples in the East African country of Burundi have until the end of the year to legalise their relationships through church or state registrations.

In May, President Pierre Nkurunziza signed a new law which the government says will help protect women and create a more moral society, but some disagree.

The government insists a legal document recognising a marriage helps protect women and their children, especially when it comes to issues such as inheritance. However, others say the new marriage law infringes on people's religious beliefs, customs and practices.

Nigeria Police Reject Ranking As World’s Worst

The Nigeria Police Force has gunned down the latest ranking by The International Police Association and the Institute for Economics and Peace, that puts it at the bottom of the world police formations.

The 2016 World Internal Security and Police Index (WISPI) credited to the two organisations, rated the Nigerian police the worst in the world. The ranking measured the ability of the Police to address Internal Security Issues in 127 Countries in four key areas of Capacity, Process, Legitimacy and Outcomes.

The ranking showed that Nigeria under-performed on all four domains, with a score of 0.255.

But  in a statement today, the NPF trashed the assessment as unempirical and instead proclaimed itself one of the best in the world.

“Nigeria Police Force is the best in UN Peace Keeping Operations, Best in Africa, One of the Best in the World. The Force rejects the report as unempirical and absolute falsehood, should be disregarded and discountenanced”, said the police in a preface to their statement of objection to the report .

“The Nigeria Police Force after a careful study of the report and the news items emanating from it, wishes to state categorically that the report is entirely misleading, a clear misrepresentation of facts and figures and essentially unempirical, considering the area of coverage of the report which was said to have been carried out in 2016 by the above mentioned associations.

“The report did not take into cognisance the significant improvement in the areas of Capacity Building, Training and Re-training of the entire personnel of the Force as provided for by the current Federal Government of Nigeria and other Foreign and Local NGOs which has greatly improved the efficiency and service delivery of the personnel of the Force throughout the country.

“It is pertinent to state that the instruments used to evaluate the performance of the Force vis-à-vis that of other countries is absolutely incorrect and grossly inadequate and therefore a plain distortion of facts and figures. The strength of about Three Hundred and Seventy Thousand (370,000) Police Personnel in the country stands at around One (1) Policeman to less than Six Hundred (600) people in a population estimates of One Hundred and Eighty Millions (180,000,000) Nigerians.

“It is equally significant to state that the current recruitment of additional Ten Thousand (10,000) Police Personnel into the Force by the Federal Government of Nigeria and the request by the Inspector General of Police to Government for approval of the recruitment of Thirty One Thousand (31,000) Police Personnel yearly for a period of 5years will definitely increase the strength of the Force to meet up with the UN ratio of One (1) Policeman to Four Hundred (400) citizens.

“Furthermore, in the UN Peace Keeping System, the Nigeria Police Force is rated as the best in UN Peace keeping operations in the world. This clearly shows that the Nigeria Police Force is not and cannot be the worst in the world under any known scientific yardstick or measuring instrument.

“Currently, the Nigeria Police Force is one of the only two African Delegates representing the whole of Africa continent on the executive committee of Interpol, a position the Force attained based on high performance, merit and sustained good track records.

“For avoidance of doubt, since the inception of the present Police administration in July 2016, the Inspector General of Police, IGP Ibrahim K. Idris NPM, mni, he has introduced and implemented diverse internal reforms aimed at improving capacity building and efficient service delivery of the personnel of the Force, which is yielding positive results in the standardisation of the capability of the Nigeria Police Force to deal with violent crimes and terrorism throughout the country. The establishment and take-off of a world class Terrorism Investigation Bureau for the Force with state-of-the-art equipment and technical support from foreign partners has greatly improved the capacity of the Force to deal with threats posed to internal security in this regard.

“However, it must be pointed out that the Nigeria Police Force sees the report as a clear demonstration of mischief, ignorance and calculated attempt to distort the feat being recorded by the Force in ensuring adequate security and safety of Nigerians. Nowhere in the report were references made to either the improved capacity or achievements recorded by the Nigeria Police Force across the country in the recent time, the Force therefore implores all Nigerians and international community to disregard the report as unfounded and misleading.”

Man Accused Of Raping & Murdering Girlfriend’s One-Year-Old Daughter Could Face Death Penalty

A man has been charged with rape and two counts of aggravated murder following the death of his girlfriend's one year-old daughter.

Little Sereniti Jazzlynn-Sky Blankenship-Sutley, from Ohio, died from blunt force trauma on October 7.

Police brought 37-year-old Joshua Gurto in for questioning but when he was released he fled, which sparked a three-week manhunt and a $5,000 reward for information.

He was caught 120 miles away at a petrol station in Pennsylvania, where he had been hiding out in woodland.

Now Gurto has been indicted on eight charges including two counts of aggravated murder; three counts of murder; one count of rape; and one count of domestic violence and one count of felonious assault.

Gurto could face the death penalty if found guilty.

At the time of Sereniti's death he was dating the tot's 22-year-old mum - she is not facing any charges.
