Germany Set To Flush Out 30,000 Nigerian Migrants

Germany has proposed a new process that will facilitate the smooth repatriation of over 30,000 illegal Nigerian migrants back to the country.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Geoffrey Onyeama said this when he received the Security Adviser to the President of Germany, Dr Jan Hecker, and his team in Abuja.

The new proposal, according to Onyeama, is predicated on perceived failures and slow pace of the current system of repatriation. This, he said, involved both the participation of Nigerian embassies and consulate and the German immigration office.

“They don’t have enough faith and confidence in the process that we have at the moment for the repatriation process.

”Some of the delays they believed are with the mission and consulate in Germany.

Facebook Shuts 583 Million Fake Accounts

Facebook shut down 583 million fake accounts in the first quarter of 2018, the social media giant said as it revealed the huge scale of abuse on the platform.

The site has revealed just how much malicious content was being published and shared on the site for the first time ever.

It comes as Facebook has been criticised for the way the platform has been abused, with accusations it has helped changed the course of elections and enabled criminal behaviour.

It said it had taken down 837 million pieces of spam content between January and March of this year.


The social network said “nearly 100 per cent” of this content was found and removed before it was reported, and was accompanied by the removal of around 583 million fake accounts, most of which were disabled within minutes of being activated.

However, the social network admitted its automated tools were still struggling to pick up hate speech, with only 38 per cent of the more than 2.5 million posts removed having been spotted by the firm’s technology.

Facebook’s vice president of product management, Guy Rosen, said more work IS needed to be done to improve such detection tools.

Meghan Markle's father won't attend her wedding to Prince Harry in three days' time because he needs to have major heart surgery today, it has been claimed.

Thomas Markle, 73, who lives in Mexico, revealed that doctors will 'go in and clear blockage, repair damage, and put a stent where it is needed' during the operation, which will take place at 3.30pm UK time.

Mr Markle is thought to have previously stayed at General Hospital in Rosarito, the town where he lives, but it is unclear where today's operation will take place.

Free public healthcare is provided in Mexico, as opposed to the US where it is administered by private institutions.

Ex-VC Sues Nigerian Breweries Over Low Sugar Claim In Malt Drink

A former vice-chancellor of the Benson Idahosa University, Prof. Ernest Izevbigie, has dragged Nigerian Breweries Plc before an Edo State High Court sitting in Benin for alleged deception.

Izevbigie accused the company of allegedly inscribing misleading information, with the inscription, “low sugar,” on the container of one of its non-alcoholic drinks, Amstel Malta.

The case, with suit number B/281/2017, was filed before the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Esohe Ikponmwen, through the claimant’s lawyer, Mr. Okonkwo Emmanuel, of Henry Idahagbon and Co.

Izevbigie said he had during a medical check-up discovered an increase in his blood sugar level.

He also claimed that he had traced the challenge to his regular intake of the malt drink.

The professor of Biochemistry alleged that a laboratory investigation revealed that the product contained more sugar than the company claimed in the inscription on the brand.

He, therefore, urged the court to order the company to tender a written apology as the he had been injured by the alleged deception.

He also stated that the label was misleading to the public.

During cross-examination on Tuesday by the counsel to the defendant, Mr. L. O. Ogiefere, the claimant told the court that malt did not merit the “low sugar” label, according to clinical research.

According to Izevbigie, the drink allegedly contained 10 cubes of sugar as against the 10 and a half to 10 one-quarter cubes contained in other malt drinks which did not have the inscription.

The presiding judge adjourned the matter till June 28 for the defendant to open its case.

A member of the Eiye Confraternity, Azeez Idris, paraded by the Lagos State Police Command alongside 15 others, allegedly said whenever he puts on his red regalia it means that somebody must be killed.

The state Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, during the parade said Azeez Idris, as the leader of the Eiye Confraternity in Ilasan, confessed to the killing of many citizens in that location.

“He told the police that once he puts on his red regalia it means that somebody must be killed.

But the suspect denied, saying: “I am a member of Eiye cult confraternity. I was initiated in 2016 by a friend called Honey.

Since I became a member of the cult, I haven’t killed anyone. The clothes I wore while sleeping is what the police alleged is the cult uniform. “I have gone to prison before for a related offence.

I was in Kirikiri for over three months before I was released. Because the police officer knows my house that is why they came to my house to arrest me. “The police officer said we were the ones terrorizing the community. I am not the leader of the gang. The current leader of the gang, Jide, is serving a jail term, while the founding leader is Andrew.

“Members of the gang usually contribute money to assist each other. The weapons recovered by the police were found in Andrew’s house. He said he is using the weapons at the site. He was the gang leader in the previous administration before Jide, who is now in prison, took over. Another member of the gang paraded, Andrew Awalebi, popularly called Flying Bird, confessed that he was initiated into the group in 1990 by one Efrebor.

He confessed to being a two-time ex-convict and had at one time been charged to Ebute-Meta Magistrate’s Court as a result of inter-cult clashes in Ajah/Lekki areas in which many lives were lost.

“I was a cultist before now but I am no longer a cultist. I was arrested in my house. I have been arrested for cult related activities.” Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, said nine of the cultists, who have made life a nightmare for the inhabitants of Jakande Estate and Lekki area of Lagos State, were arrested on May 9, at Jakande Estate, Lekki, Lagos based on their mission to attack rival cult group.

Weapon recovered from the suspects include a locally made single barrel pistol, two battle axe, two daggers, one cutlass, charms and a pair of red regalia. The other cultists were nabbed in Ketu area of Lagos. CP Edgal Imohimi noted that the suspects will be charged to court at the end of the investigation.

A teenager doused in acid on her doorstep by a thug in a ski mask has described the moment she felt like her "skin was melting off."

Alma Ponce, 18, was scarred for life as she returned home from work with her mother, Patricia Ponce and brother, Luis Ruiz, eight, last year.

The attacker unscrewed a lightbulb on her porch so it would be dark and as her mother tried to unlock the front door, he raced around the side of the house.

He then tossed a vial of acid in her face before running off.


She instantly ran to her little brother's paddling pool to help cool her burns and ease the pain, but nothing helped.

Alma, of Oak Cliff in Dallas, Texas, said: "I just didn’t know what to do, it was just seconds but it felt like a long time.

"All I could feel instantly was this burning sensation on my neck and face. It was awful.

"It got into my eye so I couldn’t see. It felt like my skin was melting off.

"I ran down the porch to my little brother’s kiddy pool and I just threw myself in.

"I was wearing a work hat and when I took it off the skin of my forehead came off with it. I really thought I was done, I thought I was going to die. The pain was so bad."

Police believe it was a racially motivated attack as graffiti had been sprayed on the side of her house, reading: 'Alma, n***** loving w****.'

The slur led Dallas Police to believe the attack was racially motivated because Alma had previously dated an African-American.

The sales rep was rushed to hospital with second degree burns on her face, neck and chest, and had to undergo a series of skin grafts.

She added: "I think about this attack every day and it will be something I think about for the rest of my life.

"I wake up every morning and I just hope it was a dream but it never is because then I see my scars in the mirror.

"I’m not the same person I was last year. I’ve become really paranoid.’ ‘At night I get scared. I think the could be around that corner waiting for me again."

The police have never found her attacker.

Alma now lives in fear the attacker – who has not been caught – will strike again. I’m really not hopeful that they’ll ever catch who did this," she said.

"I was unable to tell the police anything about him and it all happened so quickly. At first I was so angry and upset but I realized my anger was pointless.

"Right now I’m just focusing on moving on with my life."

NECO Registrar Suspended Over Abuse Of Office

The Registrar of National Examinations Council, Prof Charles Uwakwe, has been suspended over alleged financial mismanagement and abuse of office.

Also suspended are two deputy directors in charge of finance and procurement, respectively, in the council.

Rumour had made the rounds that the three top officials of the council had been sacked, but a competent source in the council disclosed on Sunday that the men were on suspension.


According to the source, they are on suspension pending the outcome of the investigation of an allegation of misappropriation of funds against them.

The source said that the officials were suspended for allegedly awarding contracts to the tune of N25 billion without following due process.

They were said not to have sought approval from Ministry of Education, the supervisory ministry or from the Governing Board of the council.

Uwakwe was also alleged to be involved in recruitment in the council without following due process.

This is the moment a gunman's attempted robbery on young children and families was foiled by a waiting mother - who turned out to be an off-duty armed policewoman.

Dramatic security footage shows a suspect named as Elivelton Neves Moreira, 21, approaching the crowd with a gun outside a private school in Sao Paulo.

But his attempted crime backfired when military police officer Katia da Silva Sastre, 42, pulled out her own weapon and unleashed three shots.

It showed Moreira, who later died in hospital, falling backwards and clutching his chest before Sastre shoves him on to his front with her foot having thrown her handbag aside on Saturday morning.


Officer Sastre is being hailed a hero for her act of bravery and was honored in a ceremony by Sao Paulo Governor Márcio França on Sunday.

Officer Sastre is a mother to two girls, aged seven and two. She has worked on the force for 20 years and is also married to a police lieutenant.

35-Year Old Lagos Female Interior Designer Arraigned For N122m Fraud

A businesswoman, Monalisa Okoye, who allegedly obtained N122 million from a customer under false pretence, was at the weekend, arraigned at an Igbosere Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.

Okoye, 35, who operated under the name, ‘Throne of Grace Interior and Events’, Victoria Island, Lagos, was arraigned before Mrs. K. S. Abdulsalami, by the Force Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department (FCIID), Alagbon, Lagos.

She is standing trial on a 10-count charge of fraud, stealing and issuance of dud cheques.

Prosecuting counsel Morufu Animashaun said the defendant committed the offences between September and January this year at 19, Aboyade Cole Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.

He alleged that Okoye obtained the money from Mr. Emmanuel Olabode on the pretence of supplying him interior furniture.

The court heard that following a breakdown of the deal, she issued Zenith Bank cheques to Olabode, which were rejected upon presentation due to insufficient funds in her account.

The offences, according to the prosecutor, contravened sections 32, 287 and 340 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

Barau Ibrahim, a notorious gang leader of kidnappers better known as Rambo, has been arrested by operatives of the Inspector Genral of Police Response Team (IRT) attached to Operation Absolute Sanity, which was recently launched by IGP Ibrahim Idris.

The nefarious gang leader, who became popular for his ability to shoot with two AK-47 tifles simultaneously, was arrested on Sunday within Maraban Yakawada, Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State, after the IRT operatives acted on credible intelligence given to them.

Before his arrest, Rambo had terrorised Birnin Gwari area of Kaduna State, Abuja-Kaduna-Kano Express Way and Zamfara State. Upon his arrest, the IRT operatives recovered two Ak47 Rifles, two Ak-47 rifle magazines and 51 live ammunition With S/Nos: AD160102 and 1978AD4328 respectively.


Also, Ahehu Abdullahi, another member of his gang better known as Gashin Baki, who is 40 years old, was arrested. The IRT operatives also recovered VW Golf Car belonging to Rambo.

The IRT operatives restated its commitment to clearing Kaduna of any Kidnapper or criminal element.

Couple’s Wedding Turned Into A Funeral After Both Die Hours Before They Were Due To Marry

A couple’s wedding had to be hastily turned into a funeral after both died hours before they were due to get married, it was reported today.

The nuptials of Luana Alves, 36 and her groom Rodrigo Nogueira, 31, had been due to take place today at 11am at a church in Passos, southeast Brazil.

But the night before the wedding both were in a car accident as they headed home to finalise preparations for their big day.

Police said their car collided head-on with another as driver Rodrigo tried to overtake another vehicle on Brazil’s 184 Highway.


Bride Luana died immediately and Rodrigo hours later after he was rushed to hospital in a serious condition.

Shocked relatives, many of whom had just arrived in the town ready for the wedding, quickly had to organise the couple’s burial.

The hastily-arranged funeral was due to take place this afternoon in the same church where they were supposed to have tied the knot, according to reports.

The driver of the other car, Jorge Rocha, 50, was also taken to the local Alzeira Velano hospital but also died of his injuries.

The matriarch, 64, said she wanted to be sensitive to the fact Solange, 31, was growing up in 36-year-old Beyonce's shadow as her fame skyrocketed from such a young age.

Speaking to Maria Shriver, Tina explained that she wanted them to get professional help to deal with any issues that could arise early on.

She shared: "I was very sensitive to that [favouritism] because I grew up where I felt like my mother liked my brother more and she loved him more so I was very sensitive to it.

"So I had days that I devoted to Solange..." She went on: "It was tough, she was five years younger than Beyonce and Beyonce was the little superstar in our city.

"So I took them to counselling so that the counselor could help Beyonce be more sensitive to Solange because she couldn't stand her for a minute when they were little... But it made her [Beyonce] more sensitive to who her sister was and what she [Solange] had to deal with because of her."

Tina added that no one else in the family was keen on the idea because they thought the girls were too young.

"But I wanted Beyonce to be sensitive to the fact that Solange had to deal with the fact of being a little bit in her shadow, and it made her way more sensitive and protective," she went on.

"And they're still fiercely protective of each other," she said.

Child Molestation: NSCDC Arrests Retired Police Inspector, 18 Others

The Jigawa Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense said it has arrested 19 persons, including a retired police inspector for allegedly molesting a 13-year-old child.

The corps’ spokesman in the state, SC Adamu Shehu, confirmed the arrest to the News Agency of Nigeria in Dutse today.

Shehu said the suspects were arrested on Thursday at about 4 p.m., in Kiyawa village, in Kiyawa local government area of the state. He explained that the arrest followed a complaint received by men of the command from the victim’s brother-in-law.

“A complaint was lodged by the brother-in-law of a 13-year-old girl at our Divisional office in Kiyawa LGA, on Thursday at about 4 p.m., that his sister in-law, who is an orphan and living with her mother, was being molested.


“Our officers immediately swung into action and started investigating the matter, and in the process were able to arrest 19 people aged between 25 and 60, including a retired police inspector,” he said.

“The young girl, who is a street hawker, told us that some of the men took advantage of her while selling porridge popularly known as “Kunu”, by giving her extra money and others by making unfulfilled promises,” he said.

The spokesman added that three of the suspects have confessed to have committed the crime while the rest denied it.

According to him, three of the suspects, who confessed to committing the the offence, have already been arraigned before a Chief Magistrate Court in Dutse and were remanded in prison.

He added that rest are still being investigated while the girl was taken to the hospital for medical tests and care.

Buhari’s Son Had His Surgery In Nigeria, Not Germany - Health Minister

Nigeria’s Minister of Health, Professor Issac Adewole said on Friday that President Muhammadu Buhari son, Yusuf, only had a rehabilitation in Germany and not a surgery.

Speaking on Channels Television programme, Hard Copy, Adewole stressed that Yusuf did not travel to Germany for medical treatment.

“The President asked his son to be treated in Nigeria. Even when people were clamouring that his son should be flown abroad, he said no.

“He just went to Germany for rehabilitation. He had his surgery in Nigeria. “I am telling you that the son was treated in Nigeria. Take that from me as the Honourable Minister,” Adewole said.

Speaking further on the state of Healthcare in Nigeria, the Health Minister said Nigerians are secretive about details of their healthcare, hence the reason why many prefer private to public hospitals.

The U.S. Embassy to Israel in Jerusalem will be dedicated on Monday, May 14, 2018, the Department of State has announced.

The Office of the Spokesperson for the Department said it was proud to announce the dedication adding Amb. David Friedman would preside over the dedication ceremony.

It added that Deputy Secretary John Sullivan would lead the Presidential Delegation to the historic opening along with Secretary of Treasury Steven Mnuchin.

Prince Harry might not be allowed to wear his old Army uniform to his wedding unless he shaves his beard, a historian has warned.

The Prince, 33, served as part of the Army's Household Cavalry's Blues and Royals, formerly known as the Royal Horse Guards and the Royal Dragoons until 2015.

Training at Sandhurst before being deployed to Afghanistan, he was made a captain and regularly sports his old uniform on royal visits.

Harry never grew a beard as a soldier in line with the Army's ban on facial hair, but grew one again a few months after he left the forces.


Historian Hugo Vickers claims his beard could cause problem when he marries Meghan Markle, 36, this month.

He said: 'He's not able to wear his Royal Horse Guards uniform with a beard.

'He does it sometimes but they don't like it. That's why when he took the parade at Sandhurst, he wore a suit.'

Despite the military's beard ban, Harry is no longer a serving officer and is therefore not subject to their rules. But in line with convention, there is a chance he might shave it off.

Gambia Sells Jammeh’s Cars, Planes To Pay Off Debt

Gambia is selling several planes and a fleet of luxury cars bought by former president Yahya Jammeh as it seeks to reduce a mountain of crippling debt contracted during the authoritarian leader’s decades-long rule.

Jammeh, who seized power in a 1994 coup, fled Gambia early last year as West African neighbours were poised for military intervention to topple him after he refused to step down following an election loss to current President Adama Barrow.

While most of his people struggled in poverty under one of West Africa’s most oppressive regimes, Jammeh acquired vast wealth, much of which he packed into planes and carried with him into exile in Equatorial Guinea.

However, a fleet of vehicles, including several Rolls-Royces with Jammeh’s name embroidered in their red leather headrests, were left behind on the tarmac.

“The fleet of expensive vehicles at State House and the three planes bought by former president Yahya Jammeh have been put on sale,” Finance Minister Amadou Sanneh told Reuters. ,

“My ministry will soon start publicising the sales,” Sanneh says.

Woman Jailed For Stalking After Sending Man Who Went On A Date With Her JUST ONCE 65,000 Texts

An Arizona woman has been charged with stalking a man, sending him a total of 65,000 text messages and breaking into his home to take a bath after going out with him just once.

Jacqueline Ades, 31, was arrested in Phoenix on Tuesday on felony charges of threatening and intimidating, stalking and harassment, a misdemeanor.

Ades reportedly met the unnamed Paradise Valley resident through a dating site in 2017.

The two went out together on a single date, but Ades allegedly fell in love and began actively pursuing the man.

The victim said Ades, who described herself on social media as a makeup artist, inundated his phone with text messages, sometimes sending as many as 500 a day, reported ABC15.

Ades' love interest contacted police twice last year after she parked outside his home and continued peppering him with unwanted texts. Police responded to the area and escorted Ades off his property.

The victim said after that incident, Ades sent him threatening texts, one of which stated: 'Oh what would I do with  your blood! Id wanna bathe in it.'

Another menacing missive read: 'You do whatever you have to do to get here… but don’t ever try to leave me... I’ll kill you... I don’t want to be a murderer.'

Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Lagos Zonal office, in the early hours of today arrested over 12 suspected internet fraudsters in the Ikoyi area of Lagos.

The EFCC operatives stormed the popular Club 57 on Awolowo Way, Ikoyi, where the suspected “yahoo yahoo boys” were rounded up, following intelligence report.

While some of the suspects abandoned their exotic cars to avoid arrest, some others put up resistance, thereby turning the environ into a war-like zone of sorts.

However, a total 10 cars were recovered from the suspects during raid that lasted about three hours.
The suspects will soon be charged to court when investigations are concluded, they said.

Woman Divorces Husband For Starving Her Of S*x

The five-year-old marriage between a 35-year-old trader, Bilikisu Azeez and her husband, Olusesi, was on Friday dissolved by an Igando Customary Court in Lagos on grounds of sex-starvation.

Bilikisu had told the court that her husband, Olusesi, starved her of sex for more than two years, a development which, she said, had affected her health.

“My husband has been starving me of sex since he married his youngest wife; he has turned me to an abandoned property.

“I have been falling sick in and out of hospital, during my last visit to the hospital, I was told that it was because I have not had sex for long that is why I experience frequent sickness.”
She also accused her husband of not caring for her and the only child of the marriage, saying “my husband does not take care of me, I feed and clothe myself.

“He refused to enroll our only child, who is over four years old in school and has failed to pay his medical bills; I always run to my mother for the hospital bill.”

Bilikisu, who also accused her husband of battery, said he had beaten her publicly which resulted in her fainting.

According to her, the trouble started when her husband brought in a third wife.

She continued: “There was joy, love and peace in the house until he came with another wife, who has been fighting me also.”

She urged the court to dissolve the union so that she can move on with her life.
Olusesi, in his response to the allegations, accepted that he starved the woman of sex.

“She once denied me of sex and since then I abandoned her.

“Yes, I starved her of sex, it is tit for tat because there was a day I entered her room to sleep with her and she left the bed to sleep on the floor.

“I made an attempt eight times to sleep with her, but she refused. So since that day, I just put her aside after all she is not the only wife I have,” he told the court.

The 45-year-old building contractor also consented to the dissolution of the marriage, saying he too was no longer interested in the marriage.

The court president, Mr Akin Akinniyi, while delivering the judgment said that it appeared that the estranged couple were tired of the marriage as all efforts to reconcile them had failed.

“Since both parties consented to the dissolution of their marriage, this court has no choice than to dissolve the marriage.

“The court hereby pronounces the marriage between Mrs Bilikisu Azeez and Mr Olusesi Azeez dissolved today.

“Both of you henceforth cease to be husband and wife, each of you should go on his or her separate ways unmolested.

“The court wishes both of you well in your future endeavour. Any squabble between both of you from now on shall be treated as criminal.

“Any violation of this judgment will be regarded as contempt of court and will attract imprisonment without option of fine,” Akinniyi ruled.
